Revisions periodicals:
At a dental check-up visit, your dental professional will check for cavities. You may have an X-ray to check for cavities between your teeth. The checkup will also include a check for plaque and tartar on your teeth. It is recommended that you see your dentist twice a year.
Dental cleaning:
Gum disease is often caused by the accumulation of bacterial plaque. The best way to remove it is by brushing your teeth twice a day. However, no matter how hard you brush, there will always be hard-to-reach areas that are difficult to keep clean. To reduce the risk of plaque buildup, you need to have your teeth cleaned to get them really clean.
The first phase of "scaling" is to remove plaque and calculus deposits. Often an ultrasonic tool is used to remove most of the tartar and then other hand tools are used to scrape away any debris.
The next step is to polish the teeth so that the surface is really smooth. Although polishing removes stains and leaves the teeth smooth and shiny, it is not only a cosmetic procedure. It also smoothes minor imperfections and roughness of the tooth to prevent plaque from adhering to them.
